Status of the Programme

At present there is one state Blindness Control Society headed by the Mission Director of NRHM as the Chairman, Director of Health Services(M.I) as the Vice Chairman and Adviser Ophthalmology in the rank of Deputy Director as Member Secretary and seven more members from the different Departments represented by the Principal Secretaries/Commissioners and Secretaries. The headquarter of the Society is in the State Capital, i.e. Shillong.

In all the seven Districts of the state, there is a District Health Society (Blindness Division) headed by the Deputy Commissioner as the Chairman, District Medical and Health Officer as the Vice Chairman and the Member Secretary is the Addl.D.M.&H.O/Eye Surgeon and designated as District Programme Manager (DPM) and other Members from different departments which includes Education, Social Welfare, DIPR and PHE.
